Halo CME arrival Nov 11

November 10, 2023

A potentially interesting CME event: NOAA indicated that

“The most notable event of the period (yesterday) was an eruption centered near S15W15 at around 09/1115 UTC. The associated halo CME is expected to hit Earth in the afternoon (UTC) of 11 Nov.”

Today (2023 Nov 10 1230 UTC) It predicted that

“Periods of G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storms are likely, with a chance for G3 (Strong) levels, on 11-12 Nov due to the anticipated arrival of a CME from 09 Nov.”

This time the hale CME arriving time appears much more certain.

To response to this, Millstone Hill ISR will run, starting at Nov 11 1400 UTC. I understand this is on very short notice and also the intensity of the disturbances is not very high, however, if possible at all, turning on (or keeping running) your radars and generating a valuable storm dataset for the community is tremendously valuable, especially when more than one radar conducts coincident observations.
